depending on what exactly you use the hard drive for you could just as easily buy a USB external drive. I currently have a 500Gb connected to mine.  Demos stay on the internal(can't move those) and I can stick everything else on the external if need be(I currently have videos/tv eps/music on both).

I doubt I would use up the memory I have currently. Demos get deleted after I play them once or twice. Might be a few things I save, but for the most part I'll just be using mine as a blu ray player and for gaming.

I believe you can replace the internal hard drive with any 2.5 inch SATA laptop drive. In other word there are no limits to the storage capacity for your PS3.
